The winner of the 2020-2021 Nigerian FA Cup, typically a NGA1 team, also receives a berth in the 2021-2022 CAF Confederation Cup.

Each NGA1 team plays Home-Away matches with the other 19 NGA1 teams for a total of 38 league matches per team. Table ranking ties are broken by (1) goal difference, then (2) total goals scored.

At the end of the 2020-2021 NGA1 season, the 170th, 18th, 19th, and 20th place NGA1 teams will be relegated to the NGA2.
