Season Format
Each team plays (2 Home/1 Away or 1 Home/2 Away) matches with the other 11 AZE1 clubs for a total of 33 league matches per team. Table ranking ties are broken by (1) matches won, (2) goal difference, (3) total goals scored, (4) head-to-head points, (5) head-to-head goal difference, (6) lower number of Fair-play points, then (7) a drawing.

Relegation
At the end of the 2026-2027 AZE1 season, the 12th place AZE1 team will be relegated to the AZE2, and the 11th place AZE1 team will enter into a highest aggregate goals wins promotion/relegation playoff with the 2nd place AZE2 team.
