Season Format
Each team currently plays an "unbalanced" schedule of 34 regular season matches, where more emphasis is placed on Conference matches versus a true "Home-Home" type of schedule. With the United States and Canada being very large countries, the current USA2 schedule cuts down on travel time and puts a premium on building regional rivalries. Conference standings and play-offs also nullifies any advantages/disadvantages that teams in one conference might have over another. Table ranking ties are broken by (1) total wins, (2) goal difference, (3) total goals scored, (4) disciplinary points, then (5) coin toss or a draw.
Playoffs
The USA2 Playoffs start immediately after the USA2 Regular season. The Top 8 teams in each conference qualify for the Playoffs. Every match is a Knockout match with two 15-minute overtime periods (if tied after regular time) and penalty kicks (if tied after overtimes). In the 1st Round, from each conference, 1st plays 8th, 2nd plays 7th, 3rd plays 6th, and 4th plays 8th in "Knockout" matches. In the 2nd round, the Conference Semifinals, 1st/8th winner plays 4th/5th winner, 3rd/6th winner plays 2nd/7th winner.The same process is followed for the Conference Finals and the USL Championship. The Championship match is played at the Home field of the team with the most points acquired during the USA2 Regular season.
Relegation
There is no Promotion/Relegation between the USA1 and the USA2.
