Summary

The Maltese Premier League (MLT1) or BOV Premier League is the top division/league in the Maltese football system. At the end of the 2025-2026 season, the MLT1 teams listed below qualify for the following non-league play:

2026-2027 UEFA Champions League - 1st Qualifying Round:
- 1st place 2025-2026 MLT1 Championship Round team
2026-2027 UEFA Europa Conference League - 1st Qualifying Round:
- 2nd and 3rd place 2025-2026 MLT1 Championship Round teams

The winner of the 2025-2026 Maltese FA Trophy, typically an MLT1 team, also receives a berth in the 2nd Qualifying Round of the 2026-2027 UEFA Europa Conference League.

Season Format

During the MLT1 season, the regular season is seperated into the Opening Round and Closing Round. In the Opening Round, each team plays the other 11 MLT1 teams once. The league will then split into the Top 6 and Bottom 6, where each team will play one match against the other teams in their group for a total of 16 Regular season league matches per team. All table ranking points are set to zero and the process is repeated for the Closing Round. Table ranking ties are broken by a playoff if deciding UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa Conference League berths.

Not applicable.

Relegation

At the end of the 2025-2026 MLT1 season, the 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th place MLT1 teams will be relegated to the MLT2.
