Summary
The Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional de Honduras (HON1), is the top level of league style football competition in Honduras. Each season is split into two championships, the Torneo Apertura and the Torneo Clausura. At the end of the 2019-2020 Torneo Clausura, the HON1 teams listed below qualify for the following non-league play:
- 2020 CONCACAF League Round of 16:
- 2019-2020 Apertura/Clausura champions
- 2020 CONCACAF League Preliminary Round:
- 2019-2020 non-champion with the most 2019-2020 HON1 Aggregate Table points
If the same team wins both the 2019-2020 Torneo Apertura and Torneo Clausura, then the runner-up with the 2nd most 2019-2020 HON1 Aggregate Table points from both torneos is awarded the 2nd 2020-2021 CNCFCL berth.
Aggregate points are determined by combining results from the 2019-2020 Torneo Apertura and 2019-2020 Torneo Clausura into the 2019-2020 HON1 Aggregate Table.
Due to COVID-19, the HON1 Clausura season was cut short at 12-13 regular season matches per team and no teams were relegated.

Season Format
The 2019-2020 HON1 season is split into two championships, the Torneo Apertura and the Torneo Clausura. In each torneo, each HON1 team plays Home-Away matches with the other 9 HON1 teams for a total of 18 league matches. A playoff is held upon the completion of each torneo to determine the torneo champion. Table ranking ties are broken by (1) goal difference, then (2) goals scored.
Playoffs
At the end of each torneo, the top 5 HON1 teams enter into playoffs (Pentagonal) to determine the torneo champion. In the playoffs, the 1st place through 5th place teams play each other once (4 matches/team) with 3 pt (win)/1 pt (draw) scoring to determine table rankings. If the 1st place team at the end of each torneo is also the 1st place team in the Pentagonal, it is the torneo champion. Otherwise, the two 1st place teams have a championship playoff.
Relegation
Upon completion of the 2020-2021 Torneo Clausura, the 8th, 9th, and 10th place HON1 teams in the 2019-2020 HON1 Aggregate Table will enter into 3-way playoff (1 match against each of the other 2 teams). The team with the least amount of points is relegated to the 2020-2021 HON2 Torneo Apertura.
