Summary
The A-League (AUS1), or Hyundai A-League, was established in 2004 and is Australia's primary football competition. At the end of the 2018-2019 AUS1 season, the AUS1 teams listed below qualify for the following non-league play:
- 2020 AFC Champions League - Group Stage:
- 1st place 2018-2019 AUS1 team
- 2018-2019 AUS1 Grand Final winner
- 2020 AFC Champions League - Preliminary Round 2:
- 2nd place 2018-2019 AUS1 team

Season Format
During the 2018-2019 AUS1 Regular season, each AUS1 team plays the other 9 AUS1 teams 3 times for a total of 27 league matches. In each 3 match series, one team hosts 2 home matches and the other team hosts 1 home match. The following season, the club that hosted 2 homes matches will only host 1 home match. Table ranking ties are broken by (1) goal difference, then (2) total goals scored.
Playoffs
At the end of the 2018-2019 AUS1 Regular season, the 1st and 2nd place teams receive berths in the Final series Semifinal match, while the 3rd through 6th place teams play one match in the Final series Elimination-Finals. Elimination-Finals winners advance to the one match Semifinals. Semifinals winners play in the 2018-2019 one match Grand Final.
