The Fußball-Bundesliga (GER1), or Bundesliga, is the top league in the German football league system. At the end of the 2020-2021 season, the GER1 teams listed below qualify for the following 2021-2022 non-league play:
- 2021-2022 UEFA Champions League - Group Stage:
- 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place 2020-2021 GER1 teams
- 2021-2022 UEFA Europa League - Group Stage:
- 5th place 2020-2021 GER1 team
- 2021-2022 UEFA Europa Conference League - Playoff Round:
- 6th place 2020-2021 GER1 team
The winner of the 2020-2021 DFB-Pokal (DFB Cup), typically a GER1 team, also receives a berth in the Group Stage of the 2021-2022 UEFA Europa League.

Season Format
Each GER1 team plays Home-Away matches with the other 17 GER1 teams for a total of 34 league matches. Table ranking ties are broken by (1) goal difference, (2) goals scored, (3) head-to-head points, (4) head-to-head goal difference, (5) head-to-head away goals scored, (6) away goals scored, then (7) a playoff.

Not applicable.
Relegation
At the end of the 2020-2021 GER1 season, the 17th and 18th place GER1 teams will be relegated directly to the GER2, and the 16th place GER1 team plays Home-Away highest aggregate score win playoff against the 3rd place GER2 team. The playoff winner and the 1st and 2nd place GER2 teams play in the 2021-2022 GER1. The playoff loser plays in the 2021-2022 GER2.
