Summary
The Hong Kong Premier League (HKG1) is the top football league in the Hong Kong football system. At the end of the 2019-2020 HKG1 season, the HKG1 teams listed below qualify for the following non-league play:
- 2021 AFC Champions League - Preliminary Round 2:
- 1st place 2019-2020 HKG1 team
- 2021 AFC Cup - Preliminary Round 2:
- 2nd place 2019-2020 HKG1 team
The winner of the 2020 Hong Kong FA Cup, typically an HKG1 team, also receives a berth in the Playoff Round of the 2021 AFC Cup.
Due to COVID-19, four teams (Hong Kong Rangers FC, Pegasus FC, Wofoo Tai Po FC, and Yuen Long FC) did not complete the 2019-2020 season and all matches involving these teams were voided. Consesquently, the remaining teams only played 10 regular season matches each.

Season Format
Each HKG1 team plays Home-Away matches with the other 9 HKG1 teams for a total of 18 league matches. Table ranking ties are broken by (1) head-to-head points, (2) head-to-head goal difference, (3) head-to-head goals scored, (4) goal difference, (5) total goals scored, then (6) Fair-play points, then (7) a drawing (or a playoff to decide the champion).

Not applicable.
Relegation
At the end of the 2019-2020 Regular season, the 10th place HKG1 team will be relegated directly to the HKG2.
