The winner of the 2022 Kuwait Emir Cup, typically an KUW1 team, also receives a berth in the Group Stage of the 2023 AFC Cup.

Season Format
The 2021-2022 KUW1 is split into the Regular Season and the Championship Round. In the Regular Season, each KUW1 team plays the other 9 KUW1 teams twice for 18 league matches per team. Table ranking ties are broken by (1) head-to-head points, (2) head-to-head goal difference, (3) head-to-head goals scored, (4) total goal difference, then (5) total goals scored.

Not applicable.
Relegation
At the end of the 2021-2022 Regular season, the 9th and 10th place KUW1 teams will be relegated directly to the KUW2, and 2 KUW2 teams will be promoted.
